`We are such stuff as dreams are made on' The creative process is a mysterious one. Almost always the artist is unaware of how the state of deep intuition and inspiration comes upon him or her. You just know when it starts to "click" and often you are the one most surprised by the results. Only after the event can you begin to understand cognitively and rationally how it came to be. Ashland Schools Project Area students interested in learning more about the different facets of live theater have several opportunities to do so through a number of programs and workshops offered through the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Black Swan The 2001 Oregon Shakespeare Festival season will be the last chance people have to experience the Festival's small theater, the Black Swan, which is being replaced by a larger theater now under construction. Outreach to Japan Over the past few years, delegations from Nakajima-Machi, Japan have visited the Festival each August. Nakajima Machi has sent a different delegation every August for the past four years - this will be the fifth year. The New Theatre Oregon Shakespeare Festival patrons next year will have the unique opportunity to break in a brand new theater.
