The Ashland High School senior will be honored by Ashland Rotary at its regular meeting on Thursday, April 23. Honsinger has been acclaimed by her teachers for her high academic standing and active leadership. She has maintained a 3.993 grade point average and has taken advanced placement classes in English, government and calculus. Her extracurricular activities include the Leadership Club, Global Citizens, a Thanksgiving food drive and a rose sale to raise money for cancer research. In athletics, she took first place in the state championship in Classic Technique Nordic Skiing. She is also competitive in bicycle racing and has participated in races in Oregon and Northern California. Her senior project at school was to design and build her own racing bicycle. After graduation, Honsinger plans to attend the University of Portland and major in biochemistry with the goal of pursuing premedical studies. Her long-term goal is to follow her father into medicine. Her interests now are the specialties of radiology or pathology.
