A busy homecoming week for AHS students Activities include parade, powderpuff game, dance By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings DailyTidings.com By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Posted Sep. 23, 2014 @ 6:23 pm By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Posted Sep. 23, 2014 @ 6:23 pm » RELATED CONTENT • A Grizzly week of homecoming activity » Social News Ashland High’s homecoming week kicked off Monday with “Tie-Dye Day”, continues with the homecoming parade Wednesday and wraps up with the dance Saturday at Mountain Avenue Gym. The parade is in danger of being rained out. It’s slated to begin at 2:45 p.m., which is about the same time the local weather forecast predicts rain will begin falling in Ashland. According to the school’s website, if it does rain the parade will be canceled. There are plenty of other homecoming festivities to keep the student body occupied, however, including Friday night’s football game between Ashland and Ridgeview. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. at Walter A. Phillips Field. Before the game, a plaque honoring the field’s namesake, a World War I reconnaissance photographer who was shot down and killed in 1918, will be dedicated by AHS senior Hope Baldrica. Also part of the homecoming festivities at AHS: Today’s assembly, during which the senior court will perform skits. We Wear Pink Day (Wednesday). Powderpuff football and volleyball, 7 p.m. today. Twin Day (Thursday). Red and White Day (Friday). Homecoming dance, 8-11 p.m. Saturday at Mountain Avenue Gym. Ashland High has altered the homecoming ceremony that will be held at halftime of the football game. Instead of naming a king and queen, the school will honor the top three homecoming court students from each class.   By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings DailyTidings.com By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Posted Sep. 23, 2014 @ 6:23 pm » Comment or view comments Reader Reaction » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. calendar Connect with DailyTidings.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Alerts Email alerts RSS feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Stay Informed Email newsletter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
