February 6, 1947 to Ethel Lou (Billie) and Gordon C. York. Spending his early years in California, Japan and Oregon; in 1961 his family moved from Salem to Eugene where Jim attended Cal Young Jr. High; graduating from Sheldon High school in 1964 and the University of Oregon in 1969. The next years were spent in Colorado working and enjoying the out of doors. Returning to Oregon in 1988 Jim met and married Patricia (Pati) Creighan. Jim was a loving step parent and friend to Pati's children Erin, Matthew, and Tobyn, and grandchildren Zaine and Jaden. He is also survived by his sister Mary Beth York (Campbell) of West Linn, Ore.; husband Wiley, children Annie and Rhett and Rhett's wife Rose; he was Grand Uncle to Carter, Adyson and Olivia. His sister Patricia Ann York (Robbins) of Hayden, Idaho; Uncle to Alanna and Corey; Grand Uncle to Mason. Cousin; Betsy and husband Earl Johnson of Eugene, Ore.; as well as many other friends and family members living out of the area. Jim spent the last 24 years working in home remodeling while living in Ashland, Ore. with Pati and their family. Jim loved to travel, fly fish, read, and enjoy time with his family and friends. Blessed with a gentle soul and killer sense of humor he was an excellent skier; talented cook, woodworker, and water color artist. Jim died peacefully Thursday, March 5th with his family at his side. Jim was an incredible person loved and missed by many. Remembrances can be made to a hospice of choice. A memorial event may be announced at a later time.
