War with Iraq won't be quick, poll shows The majority of Internet voters believe the war in Iraq will drag on for months or even years, a Tidings poll shows. In an unexceptional turnout, 370 people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to answer the question, "How long do you think war will last in Iraq?" The highest vote-getter was "for years," with 111 people or 30 percent making that their choice. Another 99 people, or 27 percent picked "up to three months," with 72 people or 19 percent voting for "six months." Forty-six people or 12 percent believe the fighting will take a year, while 33 voters or 9 percent predicted hostilities would cease by the end of April. A small minority, nine people or 2 percent had faith the war would be over by Saturday. This week's poll question, posted Saturday, is: "Women are serving in the U.S. armed forces, but are excluded from active ground combat. What do you think?" The Tidings weekly online poll is an unscientific measurement of public opinion and only reflects the views of those who choose to participate. Its sole purpose is to provide greater public input on a variety of issues.
