ASHLAND FIRE & RESCUE Controlled burn planned Wednesday in Ashland Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Nov. 17, 2015 at 8:01 PM By Local report Posted Nov. 17, 2015 at 8:01 PM » Social News More controlled burning of brush piles are planned Wednesday, Nov. 18, on the east side of the Ashland watershed on upper Tolman Creek Road as part of the fuels reduction and forest restoration efforts of the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project, Ashland Fire & Rescue announced late Tuesday. Smoke may be visible from parts of town throughout the day. No roads or trails will be closed, but people in the area are asked to be aware of vehicles on the roads and expect smoke in the area of the Eastview Trail. AFR managers say that, based on feedback from last week's burns and smoke, they've adjusted their approach to burn when there's more moisture predicted before and after the burn and less likelihood of stable air that traps smoke in the valley. Progress has been exceptional so far this year, they said in a statement, and Wednesday's burn will continue to chip away at this year's backlog of acres. A smoke monitor is now in place in downtown and the web link should soon be activated, but numbers are already being collected to track air quality.
