PARKS & RECREATION Ashland ice rink set to open Wednesday Gala celebration planned for Saturday Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Nov. 17, 2015 at 2:00 AM By Local report Posted Nov. 17, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News The Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink is set to open Wednesday, Nov. 18, with a gala celebration planned for Saturday, Nov. 21, at 95 Winburn Way, across from the Lithia Park playground. The First Frost celebration, organizers say, will run from 6 to 10 p.m., with highlights including: • Recreational skating with live DJ Hope; • A three-on-three hockey exhibition game at 3 p.m.; • Performances by the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club, at approximately 7:30 p.m.; • A personal appearance by the friendly Ashland Parks & Recreation mascot, Chilly the Snowman; • Ice Sculpting by Roger Butterfield; and • Kids 5 and under skate for free (adults for $3), not including skate rental or $2.50/pair. Skate rentals accommodate from toddler size 9 up to men’s size 15. Changing rooms are not available. Hot chocolate, coffee and a variety of snacks will be available for purchase. The rink offers skate trainers for select sessions at no charge. Plans call for the rink to be open through Feb. 28.
