Main St. During A Taste of Ashland, local restaurants, wineries and chocolatiers provide food and drinks inside the city's galleries on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. Residents and visitors can sample what will be available this weekend during the Friday Preview Gala. "We thought, ‘Let's do something for people who haven't come before or who can't afford $30 for a day,’" said Jason, a photographer known by his first name who is marketing chair for the Ashland Gallery Association. Tickets for A Taste of Ashland are $30 per day or $48 for both days. People who already have tickets also are welcome to the preview gala, which will provide a look at weekend attractions and help them plan their route for the tour of Ashland's downtown and historic Railroad District, Jason said. On Friday night, the gallery association will hold its first "quick draw" event, in which area artists will create art on the spot. The pieces will be auctioned that night. Tickets for A Taste of Ashland can be purchased Friday night or by visiting www.atasteofashland.com. Tickets also are available Saturday or Sunday at the downtown Plaza information kiosk or the Ashland Springs Hotel. Ticket-buyers can sample the food and beverages at the galleries and will receive a commemorative poster, a wine glass, the Ashland Gallery Association's newly released gallery guide and an event guide with a map and descriptions of vendors. Participants must be 21 or older with valid picture identification to sample beer and wine. Proceeds from the event support visual and cultural arts in Ashland, with a percentage of proceeds going to the Ashland High School arts program.
