--> --> Ten puppies rescued from Madras trash bin MADRAS (AP) - Ten Jack Russell terriers were rescued from a garbage bin behind a restaurant. The man who saved the puppies was walking to his car last week when he heard a noise coming from the garbage, said Jan Griffin, executive director of the Central Oregon Humane Society. The man, who wouldn't give his name, inspected the trash and saw one of the terriers. He climbed into the bin to recover the others. The man continued searching for two hours, making sure he hadn't left any behind. He brought the puppies to an animal shelter. They are now staying at foster homes until they're old enough to be adopted. Police say they haven't established any leads, but the person who abandoned the terriers could be charged with animal abandonment. "It always amazes me when people do things like this," Griffin said.
