Snowden, the fugitive whistleblower about the U.S.’s secret surveillance programs, is living in Russia while trying to avoid arrest at home in the U.S. The conversation between Oliver and Snowden was funny and serious, typical of Oliver’s show. In response to a question about naked selfies, Snowden said that most data you send ends up in a government database. "If you have your email somewhere like Gmail, hosted on a server overseas or transferred overseas or at any time crosses outside the borders of the United States, your junk ends up in the database."
