If that is the case, then Rick Dyer is in pretty good company. The following individuals have all endorsed Rick for Jackson County Commissioner, Position 1: U. S. Rep. Greg Walden. State Representative Sal Esquival. All three current Jackson County commissioners: John Rachor, Don Skundrick and Doug Briedenthal. Former Jackson County Commissioner and Jackson County Sheriff C.W. Smith. And the following Medford City Council members: Eli Matthews, Daniel Bunn, Chris Corcoran, Dick Gordon, Bob Strosser and Tim Jackle. These individuals know what it takes to get the job done in county government. They know Rick, his background, his education, his work experience and his personal attributes, and they’re all endorsing him. Please join me, along with the respected list of individuals above, in voting for Rick Dyer for Jackson County commissioner, position 1, on Nov. 4. P. Mann, Medford Forum was exciting Oct. 8 brought an exciting and encouraging event to the Medford Higher Education Center. The Jackson County Candidate Forum on Clean Energy and Climate Change provided an opportunity for Jackson County voters to learn how candidates viewed these issues and what they planned to do, if elected, to deal with them. Cosponsored by Rogue Climate and Southern Oregon Climate Action Now, local community groups dedicated to addressing climate change, it attracted over 125 voters.  Those participating were Oregon Senate District 3 candidate Dr. Alan Bates, and county commissioner candidates Tonia Moro and Kevin Talbert. They displayed a remarkably informed and gratifying understanding of the issues along with a commitment to helping the region address them. It was, however, disappointing to see that no other invited candidates deemed the issues of regional increasing temperature, wildfires and drought, decreasing snowfall or promoting clean energy, sufficiently important even to attend the forum. Kathy Conway, Jacksonville A low blow The latest Dotterrer attack ad against Dr. Alan Bates is a blow below the belt. Dotterrer must have scraped up the images from an ancient horror film. If anyone deserves an "F," it's Dotterrer! Dotterer a good guy? Apparently not. Please vote for Dr. Alan Bates. William Meyer, Medford Moro stands apart Tonia Moro will bring honesty, integrity and compassion to the Jackson County Boar of Commissioners. As a fellow practicing attorney, I believe what really separates Tonia is her work experience and ethic. I see the long hours she invests in her commitment to her planet, community and clients through a work ethic that leaves others in the dust. Unlike Mr. Dyer, a lawyer in name only and not in Oregon, Tonia has shown an exceptional ability to successfully work in both the civil and criminal justice environments for more than 20 years. Her endorsements show strong support from those she has worked with practicing municipal law as legal counsel for the cities of Jacksonville, Gold Hill and Phoenix and as a federal public defender working in a difficult, frustrating and often reviled job to protect the constitutional rights of all of us by working to ensure them for the least of us. Robert Stone, Medford Voting for Bates As an Oregonian for over 30 years, recent to Southern Oregon, among many things I love about this community is the caliber of the person representing us: Sen. Alan Bates. I base this on a town hall forum, newspaper interviews and televised debates. I appreciate that Senator Bates cares for all Oregonians, not just the wealthy who could fund his campaign for promised tax breaks. As a physician embracing improvements, he knows the struggles of all our community’s socioeconomic groups. With a Republican colleague, he helped design more effective, efficient patient care. I am voting for Senator Bates because he makes things better, works across the aisle to get things done, and cares about the things I do: education, our economy and health care. He has said he’d rather lose than run a negative campaign. Let's elect a representative who helps our community and won’t resort to negative campaigning.
