--> --> Parks Commission discusses city forest land management Ashland Daily Tidings Ashland's Parks and Recreation Commissioners will meet Monday to hear a staff presentation on how to best manage the city's forest lands. According to Parks Director Ken Mickelsen, commissioners will hear and discuss ways to better the fire resistance of forest lands, with a particular focus on the interface areas where homes are likely to be affected. "It had been requested by one of the commissioners to do a presentation about our management plan, how we manage forest properties in interface areas, and background information on properties we own," Mickelsen said. "There's an opportunity with grants for fuel reduction, and that some properties would qualify, and there may be an opportunity to work on those properties in the near future." The commissioners meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Ashland Civic Center council chambers, 1175 East Main St. The meeting will be broadcast live on Rogue Valley Community Television Channel 9.
