This year, in an effort to focus the Daedalus Project on the evening production, festivities will begin in the courtyard at 6 p.m. T-shirts will be available for sale, as well as baked goods, lemonade and other concessions. The Rogue Valley Gay Men's Chorus and The Rhythm Kings will perform from 6 to 7:15 p.m. on the courtyard deck before the evening variety show begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Elizabethan Stage/Allen Pavilion. OSF actor Ray Porter will emcee the event. The show features performances by OSF actors and other company members. Enjoy music, dance, hilarious skits and a one-of-a-kind Underwear Parade, emceed by OSF actor G. Valmont Thomas. The evening will close with a special candlelight witnessing ceremony. For the past eight years, one of the highlights of the evening variety show is the annual raffle at intermission of a beautiful quilt designed and created in the costume shop. This year the quilt was designed, pieced and hand quilted by costume cutter Marsha K. Cole. Cole has used fabrics from many of this year's productions to create a new take on a traditional Amish inspired diagonal block design. The quilt will be on display in the OSF Information Center on the corner of Siskiyou and Pioneer streets from Aug. 2 until the day of the Daedalus Project. Raffle tickets are $2 each and may be purchased at the Information Center or the Tudor Guild Gift Shop. Each year following the benefit, the festival distributes the funds raised to various local, regional, national and international organizations involved in the battle against HIV and AIDS. OSF Artistic Director Emeritus Jerry Turner named The Daedalus Project after the story of Daedalus from Greek mythology. Daedalus and his son, Icarus, were imprisoned in a labyrinth by King Minos, and by crafting wings from wax and feathers, Daedalus created a way out of the maze. The Daedalus Project features a 5K run/walk, performances and sales on the festival bricks, and an evening variety show on the Elizabethan Stage/Allen Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the evening show are $25 and $30 and available at the box office at 15 S.
