- Subscribe - Contact Us - Rate Card - Place an Ad Valley&State Backpage O&E Sports Archives Classifieds Faith&Beliefs Obituaries Revels November 11, 2004 Jefferson Baroque Orchestra Jefferson Baroque Orchestra will perform the first of its new Showcase Concerts, a recital by Baroque trumpeter Markus Tannenholz, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 N. 2nd St., Ashland. The JBO performs using period instruments rather than the modern ones used by most groups performing classical music. Included on the program will be sonatas for trumpet and strings by Heinrich Biber and Pavel Vejvianosky, trio-sonatas for trumpet, violin and bassoon by Gottfried Finger and a trio for trumpet, recorder and basso continuo by Dominico Poglietti. Other performers will be Margret Gries, baroque violin and harpsichord; Jim Rich, recorder and baroque bassoon; Karen Basin, baroque bassoon; John Taylor, baroque violin and viola; Pat Berlet, baroque viola; and Owen Daly, harpsichord. Markus Tannenholz, who grew up in the Rogue Valley, studied valve-trumpet at the New England Conservatory and baroque trumpet in Europe with Edward H. Tarr. During his several years in Aachen, Germany, he performed with the Hamburg Baroque Orchestra, the Capella Aqiensis, and groups in Belgium and Holland.
