I came here to visit a childhood friend and to get a new perspective on my life and what might be possible. I had an identity of being a married, long-suffering wife, with a love-cures-everything kind of optimism. Along with that came an energetic depression of hopelessness. I knew I was stretching my soul's powerful need to explore what else is possible beyond my self-imposed limitations. The energy I had helped create was slowing eroding my marriage. Year after year of not loving myself above what someone else thought interfered with making choices that would encourage and support this vast well of expression I wanted to experience. I was weird by my family's own words and crazy for my wild and expanded views of life and my own kind of spirituality. I would vision the whole planet as beautiful and whole, people happy and laughing with the love of just being alive. We see so much of what is wrong here, talk about it, cry about, and sing about it. My heart was aching to create the world I know also exists even if it's just in my own imagination. I realized I would have to leave my marriage and start a new life without the comfort of "normal" life as usual, if I am to be the wholeness of Me. In making this choice I can now take response and ability to chart my own energy of being. I am no longer able to say “they” did this or that to me, for I am the co-creator of my world on Planet Earth. It's my attitude that I am responsible for, my choices in the depth of growth, and how much I love myself when it's just me alone. This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine! Only I was afraid of rejection and opinions of others. Since moving here, I realize I came here to find "kindreds” and those who are unique in a community of big personalities! I felt so vulnerable — and yet I was free to choose how much to let fear control my life, now in this very moment. I realize what happens around me really does reflect what shows up. And if I do not like what shows up, I can breathe, go for a walk, dance and cry and choose something else that feels more nourishing for me to flourish. So I became a house sitter and cook while I figured out what might be possible next. It's exciting, it's scary — and worth every experience I have had that has informed me of my own sense of who I am. I am my own — I am not someone else's idea of who I am. Today I focus on “presence" as a present to myself. Stretching: going with the flow like water. This amazing town of springs has so informed my choices that I find I cannot stop my flow of exploring what's possible any more than I can stop myself from breathing. I am water, after all, and what I believe and speak becomes my reality. This is how I contribute to the wholeness that is, all of us together, in my own way.  Angela Parker lives in Ashland and is currently an Ambassador for Structured Water.
