"We've had some information turned in, but a lot of times with these kinds of investigations it's slow going," APD Lt. Rich Walsh said. According to police reports, an adult female - whose name is being withheld - told police she was raped by an unknown male around 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday in a residence on B Street. The man used some sort of cutting device as a weapon during the crime. The woman was taken to Ashland Community Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, about 6-foot-2 with brownish-blond hair. He weighs about 200 pounds and was last seen wearing an olive-colored hooded jacket, blue jeans and tan leather work gloves. Based upon the weapon used during the commission of the crime, police are considering the suspect armed and dangerous. A sketch of the suspected rapist publicized Monday has already brought some responses, Walsh said. "Sketches like this have actually proved fairly valuable in similar investigations in the past," Walsh said. A police sketch of a suspect helped close a previous rape case in Ashland, which took place in early November 1999, Walsh noted. Email your...
