Ashland police first received a report of shots fired at 5:57 p.m. Saturday in the first block of Water Street. Through witnesses, Ashland police identified Philip E. Zimmerman, 30, as the person suspected of firing a gun.  After an investigation, Zimmerman was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on two counts each of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of firearms, as well as one charge each of second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and second-degree criminal trespass. He remained in jail Monday on $26,000 bail.
