LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Letters to the Editor, Nov. 24 DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Nov. 24, 2014 @ 12:01 am Posted Nov. 24, 2014 @ 12:01 am » Social News Americans don't understand I would hope the media would be trying to help "stupid" Americans understand the Affordable Care Act and would not just present the Republicans' continued silly abuse of this act. The media slant is becoming very obvious. When Obama’s policies are struggling the media coverage is excessive. When Obama’s policies are successful they either are not covered by the media or the Republicans try to take credit for them. Watch the Republicans' attempts to convince the American public they are responsible for the healthy economic recovery and falling rates of health care cost increases. Republicans obstructed Obama at every turn and deserve no credit for successes of the last 6 years. Americans do not understand what is happening in our world. Search online for the Perils of Perception Report from Ipsos. Take their test and see how warped your facts are. The media are doing a terrible job of informing the public or the public is just not getting the facts. Maybe they watch Fox "News". Dawn Sinnott, Medford Tutunov concert was a triumph I'm an international transplant to Ashland, and studied opera in South Africa. I'm a bit of a music snob, to say the least, so I was skeptical about the potential quality of the Tutunov Series presentation of Francesco Nicolosi at SOU this last week. Well, I was blown away! An absolutely bravura performance, starting with two gorgeous amuse bouche in the form of the Scarlatti sonatas in C and G major, followed with the robust and lyrical Mozart F Major sonata. After intermission, a brilliant and subtle meditation by the rather obscure Sigismund Thalburg on two operas of Verdi and Bellini, then the Liszt Spanish Rhapsody S. 254, which had our whole row in tears. After mopping his brow with a massive red silk handkerchief, Nicolosi went on to three encores which included a galloping Verdi Waltz and a finale of a pianoforte version of "Casta Diva" from Norma. To think our little valley could host such a massive talent! Bravo, Bravissimo, Maestro Nicolosi!
