LOCAL ROUNDUP Ashland football headed to Hillsboro for 5A championship game Hillsboro Stadium has hosted last five 5A finals By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Follow @@ADTsports DailyTidings.com By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Follow @@ADTsports Posted Nov. 23, 2015 @ 6:26 pm By Joe Zavala Ashland Daily Tidings Follow @@ADTsports Posted Nov. 23, 2015 @ 6:26 pm » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2324,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> The Ashland High football team will head north for the Class 5A state championship game. The Oregon School Activities Association announced on Sunday that the game between fifth-seeded Ashland (10-2) and sixth-seeded Summit (11-1) will kickoff at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium, the venue which has hosted the last five 5A state championship games. Situated 292 miles north of Ashland and 183 miles northwest of Bend, where Summit High is located, Hillsboro Stadium was last renovated in 2010 and has a seating capacity of 7,600. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. A live video stream and live stats will also be available via OSAA.org . The game represents Ashland's sixth state championship appearance and first since 1998, when the Grizzlies captured their third state title. The Summit Storm is in uncharted territory after suffering first-round defeats in all four of its previous playoff appearances. The game will be a rematch of a Sept. 18 defensive battle that Ashland won 15-14 on the strength of a third-quarter safety. Summit earned its championship spot by steamrolling second-seeded Crater 41-7 in the first game of a semifinal doubleheader at Mel Ingram Field in Grants Pass on Saturday. Ashland was equally dominant in a 63-35 victory over ninth-seeded Wilsonville. The Storm is led by quarterback John Bledsoe, who has completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,084 yards and 25 touchdowns with only two interceptions. Against Ashland, Bledsoe, son of former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, was 21-for-33 for 238 yards and no touchdowns. Women's Basketball Southern Oregon point guard Ashley Clauseen was named the Cascade Conference Red Lion women's basketball player of the week on Monday. The 5-foot-6 senior led the Raiders to a pair of wins at the Midland Empire Insurance Classic in Klamath Falls last week, scoring 28 points against Cal Maritime and notching 14 points and five rebounds against William Jessup. Claussen has scored 20 points or more four times and is averaging 21.8 points per game.
