--> --> Toddler still unclaimed PORTLAND (AP) - A toddler who has been passed from home to home remained unidentified Friday, and police have no idea who she is or where she came from, officials said. The little girl is 2 or 3 years old and seems to understand mostly Spanish, said Portland police spokesman Lt. Brian Schmautz. She is in good health, he said. The child was taken into custody by state protective workers Wednesday, after being turned over by a caregiver. Police said the caregivers claim not to know who gave them the child. "She appears to have been shuttled from home to home for the past five weeks, from caregiver to caregiver. Investigators have yet to speak with anybody who will tell them her name or who the original person was who had her," Schmautz said. No one has reported a missing child, he said, making the case very unusual. "Has something happened to the parents, have they abandoned her? We just have a lot of unanswered questions right now," he said. Email your...
