Local authors at Bloomsbury Books Bloomsbury Books, at 290 East Main Street, in Ashland, continues readings and book signings this month. Ashland resident Michael McRae will show slides of Tibet and read from his book "Siege of Shangri-La: The Quest for Tibet's Legendary Hidden Paradise" at 7 p.m., Friday, January 10. "The Siege of Shangri-La" tells the story of Tibet's exploration as both a geographical and spiritual destination - and chronicles the discovery at the end of the last millennium of the truth behind the myths and rumors about it. Ashland resident and SOU teacher, D. L. Smith reads from his new book, "Miracles of Santo Fico", at 7 p.m., Saturday, January. The book is being hailed as a "flawlessly crafted, utterly winning tale." Melissa Walker, author of "Living on Wilderness Time" will read and sign copies of her book at 7 p.m., Friday, January 17. Walker is the vice president of National Wilderness Watch and writes about the 200 days she spent alone in America's wild places and how she began to assess the parts of her life she could control.
