Kitzhaber meets with Ashland Chamber of Commerce lea... • 108th annual Ashland Chamber of Commerce dinner • Innovation celebrated at Ashland conference » Social News The Ashland Chamber of Commerce , in the spring of 2014, launched the Ashland Business Resource , an online portal designed to provide businesses with information they need to start or grow their business in Ashland, and for businesses looking to relocate to Ashland. The detailed information includes local demographic data, data related to employment and wages in Ashland, and how to access resources from the city of Ashland , along with city-related processes, and profiles on the various industries that make Ashland thrive. Additionally, the portal has information on federal, state and county level programs that are available to Ashland businesses from business development opportunities to special financing options. The Ashland Chamber partnered with the Small Business Development Center , Business Oregon , the city of Ashland and the Jackson County Employment Department to collect the data. The Ashland Chamber recognized that this information is available online but is scattered throughout various websites and wanted to create a one-stop shop for busy business owners looking for tools to enhance their business practices. While information and data are readily available at the county level, isolating the focus to Ashland is not. Thus, it was something that the Ashland Chamber felt was important to provide. The Ashland Business Resource portal is about telling the story of the business community in Ashland. While a majority of the site is dedicated to data analysis and resources, there is an entire section of the portal dedicated to individual industries in Ashland. Industries such as Food and Beverage Manufacturing , Technology and Arts  and  Entertainment and Recreation are featured. Each industry feature is enhanced with stories about successful businesses and leaders that make up that industry. As the portal continues to develop, more businesses will be showcased within these industry features. Every four months a new theme, or industry spotlight, is launched on the portal. These industry spotlights take an in depth look at the specified industry in Ashland. When the portal was launched at the Ashland Chamber’s Ashland Innovators Conference last spring, the industry spotlight was on innovation in Technology, Film, Video and Animation. The next industry spotlight has focused on Healthcare. Food and Beverage Manufacturing and the impact that industry has on our community will be the spotlight this coming spring. Recently, the Ashland Chamber, in partnership with the city of Ashland, launched the Economic Dashboard component of the portal. The Economic Dashboard has the most current data on Ashland’s median wages, per capita income, transient occupancy tax collected and unemployment rate. Many of these indicators correspond with data over time. Users can find the most recent quarter reported on transient occupancy tax, for example, but also track how it has been collected over time for comparison. The final component to the Ashland Business Resource portal is the collection of important news stories detailing accomplishments of businesses in the Ashland community. Stories such as Ashland receiving Google’s e-City award for the second year in a row inspires businesses to grow and the portal provides the resources to help them get there. Additionally, the Ashland Chamber constantly researches workshops and educational seminars for businesses to participate in. You will find a schedule of them on the portal.
