Shayla Briner Shayla Briner, 62, of Ashland, died on her birthday, Monday, June 23, 2003. She was born June, 23, 1941. Ms. Briner received her art degree from Southern Oregon University and produced original tie-dye designs on clothing which she sold at Lithia Artisan's Market. She was also a member of the Lithia Artisan's Guild. She assisted immigrants in need in Arizona and traveled to Mexico to teach English. She loved the language, the people, and her students in Mexico. Survivors include one daughter, Melanie of Portland; her brother, David of Arcata, Calif.; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave., of which she was a founding member. All are welcome. Those attending are encouraged to wear tie-dye clothing and bring a dessert or snack to share.
