The latest video in UNESCO's YouTube feed shows UNESCO's Director-General Irina Bokova in front of the Symbolic Globe at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris. Projected on the sculpture behind her is the word "Peace" in the organization's six official languages. "What we have shown here on the globe is speaking for itself," Bokova says as the words rotate on the globe in the video. The global message of peace has a local connection. It is the work of a company with ties to Ashland, and was done in cooperation with an Ashland business. Christopher Lejuene, CEO of San Francisco-based Obscura Digital, has been in Paris the past week for a live projection show planned for this weekend in Paris as part of UNESCO's "Mosaic of Change" series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the organization. Ashland-based Pacific Domes manufactured the cover that makes projections visible on the minimalist wire-frame sculpture. Pacific Domes is owned by Lejuene's mother, Asha Deliverance. In an email, Deliverance said the cover was shipped to Paris on Tuesday, less than a week ago. Deliverance told the Mail Tribune Lejuene's business began in Ashland. Obscura's website shows offices in San Francisco, New York and Stockholm. Doni Dennis at Obscura said the company had to quickly shift gears in light of the attack. The company was originally in Paris to celebrate UNESCO's 70th anniversary with the live projection event, but quickly needed to develop peace content to project on the globe and pushed its set-up forward to be prepared for a press conference Saturday. Multimedia projection demonstrations had been planned for the weekend. In light of the attack, spectators won't be allowed to watch the live presentation on Avenue de Lowendal, but the projection event will live stream from noon to 3 p.m. Pacific time Monday at www.mosaicofchange.org .
