I have been intrigued by your occasional safari stories and two got my attention enough for me to comment. The "Nairobi Eye" does indeed exist as I saw one myself and I have a friend in Kenya who suffered from the effects of the caustic fluid. In regard to a much earlier quote, something about "never taking a woman on safari�" I have been on over 20 safaris (most of them on horseback) in sub- sahara Africa and have made over 30 trips to 13 countries there. I have had ants in my hair, snakes in my tent, been chased by elephants, been within six-feet of a black mamba and a spitting cobra � you get the picture. So, please no more generalizations about women on safari. Most of us adapt quite well to what can be difficult conditions in the African bush. Mary C.
