Originally scheduled for Monday, the hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, in the Jackson County Courthouse auditorium, 10 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Jackson County Development Services staff gave tentative approval in October 2014 for the 84-foot-tall tower and antennae at 290 E. Ashland Lane near Exit 19. Neighbor Arleen Van Buskirk and state Sen. Alan Bates, who lives in Medford but represents Ashland, requested a public hearing on AT&T's proposed cell tower. Neighbors said they are worried about potential negative health impacts from the tower, while the city of Ashland expressed concerns about aesthetic issues. The county is requiring that the tower be disguised as a pine tree. AT&T says the tower is needed to improve service in the area. At the May 4 hearing, a hearings officer will take public testimony. To approve the cell tower, the hearings officer must determine the application meets criteria of the Jackson County Land Development Ordinance. Failure to raise an issue in person or by letter at the hearing will bar a person from appealing a decision to the state Land Use Board of Appeals, according to county officials. For more information, call Charles Bennett at Jackson County Development Services at 541-774-6115.   DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Mar. 3, 2015 at 4:49 PM » Comment or view comments   Reader Reaction »  STAY INFORMED   Email NewsLetter   Sign Up Today   Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
