--> --> Children recovering from wreck By Myles Murphy Ashland Daily Tidings Both children involved in a single car accident Monday evening were in fair condition this morning at hospitals in Medford and Portland. The children were injured when the car driven by their mother, 24-year-old Sara Holt of Talent, rolled near mile marker 20 on rain-wet Dead Indian Memorial Road. Jackson County Sheriff's deputies responded Monday to the rollover. When they arrived, officers found the car in a small creek bed. Holt had apparently lost control on a downhill curve and left the road, sliding through dirt and rocks before coming to a stop. The pavement was wet from rain at the time of the crash. Olivia Holt, 3, was flown Monday from Rogue Valley Medical Center to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland for treatment of two skull fractures and a broken leg. Her condition was upgraded from critical to fair this morning, according to hospital officials. Jason Holt, 4, was transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center in serious condition with lacerations, bumps and bruises, but was upgraded to fair condition by this morning, according to hospital officials. Neither child had a safety seat in the car and Jason was not wearing the available seatbelt. Olivia may have undone her lap belt in order to sleep and was improperly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the Sheriff's Department. Sara Holt was treated for miner injuries at Rogue Valley Medical Center and released. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Email your...
