Mr. Grizz pageant raises $3,000 The Ashland High School annual Mr. Grizzly Pageant raised more than $3,000 for the Children's Miracle Network at Rogue Valley Medical Center, according to pageant organizers. AHS students Travis Bingaman, Nick Palmesano, Peter Axer, Mike Orsow, Brady Case, Reilly Owen, Johnny Harris and Jaxon Williams danced and sang for the coveted title of Mr. Grizzly - and a good cause. Harris, an AHS freshman, was crowned Mr. Grizzly at the April 4 pageant held in the AHS Theater. According to Justin Hurley, director for CMN, all of the donations raised by AHS students goes toward benefiting local children in need. "One hundred percent of the money that was raised for CMN stays in the local community. Nothing goes national, it stays right here," Hurley said, adding RVMC has the only neonatal care unit between Eugene and Sacramento. In addition to helping raise money for CMN - which services 9 counties - AHS was acknowledged for its fundraising efforts with the 2002 Champion for Children Award, Hurley said. AHS volunteer Sue Graham said students were able to secure an additional $2,000 in donations from the community which will go toward funding next year's Mr. Grizzly Pageant.
