By Tidings staff report January 04. 2015 6:28PM System flush may discolor water near SOU Changes in water color coming out of the tap may be seen in the area in and around the Southern Oregon University campus today, Monday, Jan. 5, the city of Ashland has announced. Ashland Fire and Rescue will conduct a fire system flush at the SOU Science Building near 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. as part of the ongoing building remodeling project. The flush starts at 11 p.m., according to a city announcement. During the flush nearby households may see a change in water color, the release says. The discoloration is caused by the disturbance of small mineral deposits that can build up over time in the city water distribution system. The mineral deposits are harmless and the color usually clears within a few moments of running the tap. If the tap water does not clear, or for more information, call the city Water Department at 541-488-5353.   http://www.dailytidings.com/article/20150104/NEWS/150109951 © 2015 Copyright © 1995-2011 Crain Communications Inc.
