SOROPTIMISTS Women's health helped by Sunday Wine Walk Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Sep. 18, 2015 at 6:25 PM By Local report Posted Sep. 18, 2015 at 6:25 PM » Social News Women's health will benefit from Sunday's eighth annual Soroptimist Wine Walk in Gold Hill, co-sponsored by Soroptimist International of Ashland, Medford, North Valley and River Valley. The walk begins at 1 p.m. in Del Rio Vineyards. Proceeds go to help un- and under-insured Rogue Valley women with their health care needs. Funds will be distributed to various hospitals and community groups for the purpose of detecting and treating breast cancer, as well as providing support services for those with heart disease and other types of cancers, like uterine and ovarian, related specifically to women’s health. Recipients include the American Cancer Society, Community Health Center, La Clinica, Ashland Community Hospital, and Providence Community Health Foundation, among others. Soroptimist have been distributing between $10,000 to $12,000 annually from Wine Walk proceeds for the six years. There was no walk in 2013. One hundred percent of the funding generated from the Wine Walk will stay in Jackson and Josephine Counties. The scenic 3.5-mile walk will be among the vineyards at Del Rio Vineyard and Winery in Gold Hill Oregon, featuring wine tasting at vineyards including: Agate Ridge, Cliff Creek Cellers, Del Rio Vineyard and Winery, EdenVale Winery, Serra Vineyards, LaBrasseur Vineyard, and 2Hawk Vineyard and Winery. Music will be provided by the East Main Band. To participate in the walk, sign up at www.siwinewalk.org .
