Songwriter's Showcase Sunday Feb. 11 will mark the second Southern Oregon Songwriter's Showcase and Open Mic at the Ashland Springs Hotel's Bullseye Bistro. The Songwriter's Showcase is an Open Mic for songwriters with sign-ups and show starting at 7 pm. Songwriters are limited to three original songs or 15 minutes. Each showcase highlights a featured act, selected from songwriters in northern California and southern Oregon. The Feb. 11 show will feature the duo of Linda Powers and George Rubaloff, joined by players Sam Cuenca and Ozzie Davis. Rubaloff and Powers have been performing together for over a year. Powers recently moved to the Rogue Valley from Mt. Shasta where she was heavily involved in several bluegrass groups. Rubaloff was last a member of the band "Full Measure." The duo's music walks a line between bluegrass and jazz, a mixture Powers describes as "Jazzy Grass." Rubaloff and Powers will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. The last Songwriter's Showcase had over 50 people in attendance. SOSA's next event will be their "Fourth Friday Songwriter's Showcase and Open Mic" at the Downtown Gourmet Coffee Shop in Medford. That show will feature Ashland's Doug Fergus.
