Look for the premiere of composer Bryan Jeff's "Three Movements for Recital Hall," along with Left Edge Percussion — a graduate student percussion group — to perform the second movement of David Lang's "So Called Laws of Nature" and Erik Griswold's "Strings Attached." SOU Percussion Ensemble will present Mauricio Kagel's "Rrrr...," John Cage's "Third Construction," Daniel Levitan's "Variations on a Ghanaian Theme" and other pieces. The program will close with Jeff's premiere of "The Shady Lady and the Rebel Frog," featuring flutist Tessa Brinckman. Tickets are $10, $5 for seniors and free for students, and can be purchased online at oca.sou.edu/boxoffice , by calling 541-552-6348 or at the door. 'Seagull' A new version of Russian playwright Anton Chekov's "The Seagull" — written by Libby Appel and directed by Jackie Apodaca — will presented at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 19-21, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, in the Center Square Theatre on the Southern Oregon University campus, off South Mountain Avenue, Ashland. Tickets are $21, $18 for seniors and $6 for students. Tickets and information are available at the box office in the adjacent Music Building, by calling 541-552-6348 or online at oca.sou.edu/box-office . Box office hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and two hours before each performance. Free parking is available in the lot on South Mountain Avenue across from the Music and Theatre buildings. Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink The ice rink opens with a celebration that includes a mix of festivities from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the rink, 95 Winburn Way, across from Lithia Park. There will be skating to DJ music, Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club performances at 7:30 p.m., visits with mascot Chilly the Snowman and ice sculpting by Roger Butterfield. A three-on-three hockey tournament will be held at 3 p.m. Skating is $3 and $2.50 to rent skates. Kids 5 and younger skate for free. Martin Majkut & Alexander Tutunov Piano duo Martin Majkut of the Rogue Valley Symphony and Alexander Tutunov will perform a potpourri of classical music from various styles and eras at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the auditorium at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keene Way Drive. Look for well-known compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Aram Khachaturian, Alexander Borodin and Sergei Rachmaninoff, along with Samuel Barber. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door. Subscriptions to all concerts presented during Jackson County Community Concert Association's 2015-2016 season are available for $110. Opus 3 with Dave Scoggin The piano-driven trio — Dave Scoggin on keys, Jeff Addicott on acoustic, stand-up bass and drummer Theresa McCoy — will play Scoggin's original jazz compositions, along with jazz classics by Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington and others, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Public House, 258 A St., Ashland. Look for jazz arrangements of Brazilian music by Djavan, Ivan Lins and Filberto Gil, jazz-fusion by Weather Report, Quincy Jones and Clare Fischer and more. Opus 3 explores and improvises pop tunes by Radiohead, The Beatles, U2 and the occasional television theme.
