Central Ave., Medford. The program will feature The Pillbox Messengers — guitarists and singers Jeff Pevar, Bret Levick and Doug Warner, singers Inger Jorgensen and Jade Chavis Watt, keyboard player Don Harriss, drummer Matt Kriemelman and bassist Jeff Addicott — who will present a program that draws from rock, blues and folk. Look for such songs as "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "Up On Cripple Creek" and "The Weight." Tickets are $24 and can be purchased at the Craterian box office, 16 S. Bartlett St., online at craterian.org or by calling 541-779-3000. Eugene Skovorodnikov Solo pianist Eugene Skovorodnikov will perform works by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 405 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Born in Ukraine, Skovorodnikov is known for his stylistic interpretation and technical brilliance. He is a prize winner of the "N. Lisenko" National Piano Competition in Ukraine. This concert is part of the Tutunov Piano Series, named after Alexander Tutunov — professor of piano and artist in residence at SOU. Tickets are $20, free for students, and can be purchased online at oca.sou.edu , by calling 541-552-6348 or at the music hall's box office. Rutendo Marimba The ensemble — Jan Christensen, Jeffri Carrington, Lindsay Campbell, Casey Frieder, Koeby Johnson, Justin Wagner, Reed Bentley, John Johns and Ron Hart — will play rhythms of Zimbabwe, accompanied by vocals, drums and percussion, at noon Sunday, May 8, at Belle Fiore Winery, 100 Belle Fiore Lane (off Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland. Mike Beck Singer, songwriter, cowboy poet and guitarist Mike Beck will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent. His songs reflect his life as a musician and working cowboy in California, Nevada and Montana. With six albums to his credit, he is a regular performer at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nev. Admission to the Paschal show is $15, and wine and light fare will be available. Hip-Hop Poetry Open Mic Singer, songwriter and poet Gene Burnett will perform when the Oregon Shakespeare Festival hosts its hip-hop and poetry open mic at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the Black Swan Theatre on the OSF campus, 15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland. Burnett is funny and serious, cynical and tender-hearted, sweet and edgy, emotional and intellectual, all at the same time.
