--> --> Fire danger decreased to moderate Ashland Daily Tidings Public regulated use closures on all state, county, private and Bureau of Land Management lands have been lifted after the Oregon Department of Forestry dropped the fire danger level to moderate. Uses now allowed include campfires, chainsaws, off-road vehicles, mowing of dry grass, smoking, cutting, welding and grinding metal, and the use of power-driven equipment such as backhoes, chippers and trenchers. The Industrial Fire Precaution Level has also been reduced to Level 1. Restriction on the Wild and Scenic Section of the Rogue River from Grave Creek to the mouth of Watson Creek have been lifted, including the smoking prohibition, camp fire use, and the requirement of boaters to carry shovels and buckets. Fire season is still in effect, however, and people who live, work, and recreate in wooded areas are asked to continue to use caution until a sufficient amount of rainfall brings and end to the 2001 fire season.
