--> --> Sarah Frances Slagle Sarah Frances Slagle, 93, of Ashland died Friday, May 24 at her residence. Born in Castle Shannon, Pa., Slagle relocated to Marshfield or present day Coos Bay in 1913 where she attended Catholic school. Later marrying Hollis Harold Slagle in 1929, the couple moved to North Bend where Slagle worked at Safeway and "The Gown Shop," a women's apparel store in North Bend. They lived in the same house for 20 years before moving to Lapine in 1955 to operate a motel. Tough winters in Lapine caused the Slagels to move to Talent before eventually moving to Ashland in 1963. In addition to being a devout member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, Slagle was a regular blood donor at the American Red Cross, donating over ten gallons of blood throughout the years. She is survived by her son, daughter, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 tonight at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home of Ashland. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland.
