--> --> Richard Bennett Varney Richard Varney, 66, of Medford died Friday, October 26, 2001 at Hearthstone Manor in Medford. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1311 NW 21st Ave., Portland, Ore. 97209, or to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice Foundation, 2825 E. Barnett Rd., Medford, Ore. 97504. Mr. Varney was born Feb. 16, 1935 in Livermore, Calif., to Henry Lungren and Cora Evelyn (Davis) Varney. He married Eva Feeler in 1953 in Grants Pass, who survives. Mr. Varney had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1947, moving here from Livermore, Calif. He was in the U.S. Marine Corp for four years, serving during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Ashland Police Department from 1960 to 1964. Then Mr. Varney worked for the BLM until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include his wife Eva Varney of Medford; three sons, Gene Carl, Gary Henry, and Richard Robert, all of Medford; two daughters, Kathryn Lynn Hernandez of Phoenix, and Sheri Elaine Fears of Lovelock, Nevada; a brother, Robert Varney of Ashland; a sister, Nelda Mallory of Danville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
