--> --> Phoenix-Talent school board to discuss PHS dropout rate Ashland Daily Tidings PHOENIX - The Phoenix-Talent School District board of directors is scheduled Thursday to hear an update on the student dropout rate at Phoenix High School. PHS Principal Bruce Rhodes is slated to give a presentation to board members on last year's dropout rate at the school, which was still being tabulated Tuesday afternoon. Rhodes said that though dropout rates increased slightly over the 1999-2000 school year, dropout rates were not the key focus of his presentation. Rhodes is scheduled to speak on the high school's programs designed to ready students for college and careers at the school board meeting set for 7 p.m., Thursday at Phoenix Elementary School, 215 N. Rose St., Phoenix. Over the last few months, the school board has heard presentations from each of the principals at all P-TSD schools. Each principal spoke on the improvements in education and the programs available at each school, such as the English as a Second Language program at the elementary schools. Other items on the agenda include the passage of three housekeeping measures and the appointment of a finance committee member. Email your...
