Bandon Man Points a 12-Gauge Shotgun at Coos County Deputies Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Mar 13, 2026 COOS COUNTY, Ore. — A 34-year-old man has been arrested following a report of a woman being held against her will in Bandon on Wednesday night. Alleged violations can become separate criminal counts on top of the underlying assault case. When Coos County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 59981 Seven Devils Road, they found that the suspect had fled the scene on foot. Robert L. Schnur was found shortly afterwards when K-9 Cena tracked and located him on top of a dilapidated motor home. He was pointing a 12-gauge shotgun at deputies who were conducting interviews with a witness. Schnur was taken into custody and charged with strangulation , violation of a no-contact agreement, fourth-degree assault, and the unlawful use of a weapon. Tidings Insight Oregon law defines strangulation as knowingly blocking normal breathing or blood circulation. It is charged separately from assault because prosecutors treat it as a distinct and especially dangerous form of violence.
