SERVICE CLUBS Ashland Lions build wheelchair ramp Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Aug. 30, 2015 at 7:39 PM Updated Aug 30, 2015 at 7:42 PM By Local report Posted Aug. 30, 2015 at 7:39 PM Updated Aug 30, 2015 at 7:42 PM » Social News Members of the Ashland Lions Club completed a handicap accessible ramp for a wheelchair-bound resident of Talent in mid-August. The person now has the ability to leave her home and enjoy a bit of summer weather. The Lions expressed gratitude to Ashland Ace Hardware and Ashland Lumber Company for making the project more affordable. While helping those with sight and hearing problems is the main focus of the Ashland Lions, the club also provides a variety of other services to the community, including newspaper and Christmas tree recycling, vision screening, college school scholarships, adopting Ashland Creek Park, a variety of construction projects in Lithia Park and sponsorship of Cub Pack 112 and Boy Scout Troop 112. An electric bicycle will be raffled at the Ashland Lions second annual Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Ashland ScienceWorks Museum. Entry is free, but a nonperishable food donation for the Ashland Emergency Food Bank is requested. Persons who would like to assist the Lions Club in community projects or who might be interested in joining the organization are encouraged to contact Pete Jorgensen at 541-227-9316 or go to ashlandoregonlions.org . The Lions have dinner meetings at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at La Casa Del Pueblo, 1209 Siskiyou Blvd. By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Aug. 30, 2015 at 7:39 PM Updated Aug 30, 2015 at 7:42 PM » Comment or view comments Reader Reaction » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
