The crash was fatal for Lauryl J. Lockwood, 27, of Ashland, who was ejected from her red 2000 Toyota Celica coupe. The driver, who was found lying in a field near the wreckage, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was first reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday about 9 miles east of Ashland on Highway 66, according to Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Leaming. ODOT provided traffic control assistance and is notified of injury accidents. ODOT's TripCheck.com first warned of delays on the highway because of the crash at 3:43 p.m. and cleared the advisory at 5:18 p.m. Preliminary investigation indicated the Toyota coupe was traveling westbound on Highway 66 when it failed to negotiate a corner, went down a steep embankment and rolled over.
