--> --> Agreement reached on energy bill The House of Representatives has agreed to pass Senate amendments to HB3633 B, an energy restructuring bill introduced by Rep. Betsy Close, R-Albany. The amended bill will delay the implementation of 1999 bill SB1149 - which would deregulate parts of the electrical power industry - for five months. HB 3633 B allows big energy users like commercial production plants to bargain on the market for energy prices. Those who do not wish to go to the market are protected by a cost-of-service price regulated by the Public Utility Commission. Close serves as assistant majority leader and chairs the House Water and Environment Committee, in addition to serving on the Ways and Means Education Subcommittee and the House Land Use and Regulatory Fairness Committee.
