The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Rogue Regency Inn, 2300 Biddle Road, Medford. A similar meeting is planned Jan. 7 in Coos Bay. Jordan Cove Energy Project LP proposes to construct a liquefied natural gas export facility near North Bend capable of exporting up to 6 million metric tons of LNG per year. Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline LP proposes to construct a 232-mile, 36-inch-diameter pipeline from the planned Jordan Cove facility to an existing line in Malin. The pipeline would transport up to 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. It would run 56 miles through Jackson County, from the Klamath County line in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest to the Douglas County border near Elk Creek. The meeting will be an open house that allows people to comment and ask questions of representatives from both the state and the Jordan Cove and Pacific Connector projects. There will be no formal presentation. Comments will be restricted to two minutes per person. People also may provide comments in writing or by email. In early December, DSL and the applicants agreed to a second 30-day public comment period, which ends Jan. 8. DSL's deadline for making a permit decision remains Feb. 8, 2016. The two removal-fill permit applications are available on the DSL website and at 22 public libraries along the pipeline corridor in Coos, Douglas, Jackson and Klamath counties. DSL administers the state's removal-fill law, which requires a permit for activities in wetlands and waterways that will remove or fill more than 50 cubic yards of material.
