Leadoff hitter Teresa Lehman was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Grizzlies to a 14-4, five-inning win over Nampa, Idaho, in the morning, and Grace Lenthe surrendered one earned run in a complete-game performance to highlight the Grizzlies' 8-2 win over Redmond a few hours later. Lehman, a senior catcher, was one of five Grizzlies with multiple hits against Nampa, as Ashland (3-1) scored six runs in the fifth to end the game early by the 10-run mercy rule. Lenthe was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Delaney Rodriguez 2-for-3 with one RBI, Nora Honeycutt 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and McKenna Read 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Lehman came through with an RBI single in the second and another up the middle in the fifth during Ashland's putaway rally. She also, along with No. 2 hitter Hannah Teixiera, scored three runs. Georgia Williams went the distance in the circle and surrendered four unearned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk. In the win over Redmond, Lenthe struck out three and walked two while holding the Panthers to three hits. Batting cleanup, she also smacked an RBI single in the third inning that helped Ashland take a 6-0 lead into the fourth. Four Grizzlies had multiple hits against Redmond: Lehman was 2-for-3 with a double, Teixiera 2-for-3 with an RBI, Gianni Pippa-Baker 2-for-3 with an RBI and Anay Philpott 2-for-4 with a double. Ashland continues the two-day spring break tournament today against Marshfield and an opponent yet to be determined. Youth Baseball Ashland's Eli Wimmer blasted three home runs but Ashland suffered a pair of walk-off losses in the first day of the Sister City Baseball Classic in Guanajuato, Mexico on Sunday. The host Tigres clawed back to nip Ashland's collection of 11- and 12-year-old ball players 5-4 and Tula, Mexico handed Ashland its second walk-off setback of the day 11-9. Against the Tigres, Ashland let leads of 2-1 and 4-3 slip away. Against Tula, Ashland led 9-6 heading into the final inning. Ashland's next game is today against Celeya, Mexico. College Track & Field Southern Oregon senior Amelia Maguin picked up her second straight Cascade Conference women's track athlete of the week honor Monday, two days after she broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles at the Sacramento State Hornet Invitational Maguin won the 22-person race in 59.07 seconds, so far the best time this season in the NAIA by nearly three seconds. The two-time national runner-up, who qualified for the NAIA Championships, won the Chico State Wildcat Invitational the previous week in 1:00.84.
