--> Youth Symphony holds Spring Concert The Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon is holding its 2001 Spring Concert this weekend. The concert will feature Lionel Thomas, a violin soloist and performances of Mozart's "Violin Concerto No. 5" and Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite." Other works include "Capriccio Italien" by Tchaikovsky and "Poet & Peasant Overture" by Franz von Suppé. The concert series is sponsored by PacifiCorp and kicks off in Ashland on Friday. The series begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 18 on the Southern Oregon University campus. On Saturday, the concert moves down the street to start at 7:30 p.m. at Grants Pass High School Performing Arts Center. The series concludes with a 3 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday, May 20 at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theatre in Medford.
