Rain. Rain. Probably rain. That's the forecast for Thursday, Thursday night, Friday day and Friday night, according to the National Weather Service as of Wednesday evening. Winds in the teens, gusts in the 20s, and rain totaling from just less than an inch to nearly two inches are forecast over the next 36 hours or so. NWS calls the systems moving ashore "akin to a pineapple express," originating just north of the Hawaiian Islands, meaning the system is warmer and snow levels will be higher than with systems moving down from Alaska. A NWS flood watch issued Wednesday afternoon is in effect from this morning through Friday night. Creeks could rise out of their banks in a number of northern California and south-western Oregon counties, including Jackson County. The flood watch notice puts rain levels at 2-3 inches inland with snow levels between 6,000 and 9,000 feet (Mount Ashland is just over 7,500 feet).
