Surveillance Footage Exposes Springfield Bank Worker’s $74,700 Theft Spree Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Jul 15, 2025 SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A Springfield Gateway Credit Union employee is facing multiple charges following the unauthorized withdrawal of $74,700 from the accounts of six of the credit union’s members. Surveillance footage showed Laila Payne, who has worked for the credit union since the beginning of 2024, making the unauthorized withdrawals and transfers between members’ accounts. Gateway Credit Union staff contacted the Springfield Police and also provided documentation to support the allegations. Payne has been charged with four counts of first-degree theft, two counts of first-degree aggravated theft, and one count of computer crime.
