For Thanksgiving, I had invited friends over for dinner and we’d explored the differences between Medford and Ashland, thinking about how the two towns are interconnected. The dinner helped me climb out of a gray mood, a listlessness that had saturated my outlook for weeks. I had also decided to pursue answers to the zombie house bombings and its connection to Sherry’s abduction. I was meeting Blue at Downtowne Coffeehouse in Talent to go over the case at noon. I got there early and with a cup of toasty Kenyan brew by my side, I went over my notes on my computer. What did I know? I knew that three vacant homes had been partially destroyed by homemade pipe bombs, one in Talent, one in Medford, and the first in Ashland. I knew that Sherry had been on site in Medford and in Talent, where she was taken. I made a few notes. I needed to get her client list, specifically the ones who’d wanted to see those two foreclosed homes. What about the one in Ashland? I needed to find out more about that house. And I wondered who had insured the homes and what payouts they might receive. Then there were the suspects, Jed Nutlinger and his partner, whom we’d hadn’t yet identified. Jed was a known drug dealer. Did he know how to make pipe bombs? How could I find out more about him? Blue would have suggestions. I wondered if I should also interview Jasmine about her clients. Had she ever represented Jed or one of his associates? I took a sip of coffee and skimmed the news. Apparently, there had also been fires breaking out in vacant homes in Klamath County. Were they related? “Hey Dawn! What’s up?” Josh walked up to me in his tarred-up construction duds. “Not much. Working on a case,” I liked the sound of that. “Loved Thanksgiving dinner the other night. Great turkey.” He kissed me on the cheek. “Thanks. It was fun. Your garlic mashed potatoes were awesome too,” I said. “Look, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you,” Josh said, sitting at my table. “What?” “I’ve seen that guy, Jed, at a couple of construction jobs.” Josh lowered his voice as he confessed. “Do you know him at all?” “Not really. He does some plumbing and I do roofs so we don’t work together. But I know his sister,” Josh blushed. “Ohhhhh, really? Is she someone you’ve dated?” I smiled. “We dated a while ago but are friends now. She’s really interesting. She holds these workshops on how to channel entities.” Josh brushed the hair out of his eyes. “What does that mean?” I asked. “Haven’t you ever seen a lightworker channel? There’s a bunch of ‘em. Pepper Lewis channels Gaia, Lee Carroll channels Kryon. Kyron talks about the Lemurians sometimes. I went to a couple Kryon sessions with Druantia, that’s her name.” “So do you think I should talk with Droo… What was it again?” “Druantia, after the ancient Celtic goddess of evergreen trees.” Josh smiled. “Ok, Druantia. How do I get in contact with her?” I asked. “I’m going to her workshop on how to channel on Saturday. Come with me.” He stood up and looked at his watch. “Okay. That sounds really interesting.” I got up and hugged Josh, my absolute favorite family member. “Great. Pick you up at 10 a.m. this Saturday.” Next week: Dawn does some channeling surfing at the Ashland Community Center.
