--> --> Vote for temp tax measure The vote on the temporary sales tax is coming up soon, and the feeling I am getting is that it is not going to pass. But, if you are one of the voters who will vote against the tax, have you thought about the ramifications of that vote? Will you be one of the 110 people in Jackson County who can't work due to a long-term disability, that will lose a cash grant? Or one of the over 500 people who need long-term care in order to eat, or for mobility, or other daily needs who will lose their Medicaid benefit? Or perhaps you are one of the 100 children in Jackson County who will lose mental health treatment and medication? But of course, you are not one of the children affected by this vote, for children cannot vote and make their voices heard. It is those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to care for ourselves, and pay for the services we need, who will make the decision that will affect many of our fellow men, women and children who are not as fortunate as we and cannot care for themselves. Many of whom would be more than willing to care for themselves, and pay the tax, if they were able. Remember, a vote against this measure will affect many less fortunate than we.
