The third Wednesday in February is called "Exclusion Day" because state law requires children to have up-to-date immunizations or an appropriate medical or religious exemption on file by that date. The law applies to all public and private elementary and high schools, preschools, Head Start and certified child-care centers. About 39,000 exclusion orders were sent to parents throughout Oregon informing them that children lack shots or the record of them, the state Department of Human Services reported. The number of affected children in Jackson County wasn’t available late Tuesday. Last year, 39,704 exclusion orders were issued and 7,817 children were kept out of school until they could provide documentation that they had received required immunizations. In 2005, the Jackson County Health Department sent 1,179 letters about immunizations. For immunizations, parents can contact their regular health-care provider, the Jackson County public health clinic at 774-8209, or call Oregon SafeNet, a statewide health-information hot line, at 800-723-3638. — Staff reports DailyTidings.com Home Page Archives | Revels | Classifieds | Real Estate Guide | Weather | Subscribe | Contact Us Copyright 2005 Ashland Daily Tidings and Ottaway Newspapers All Rights Reserved Deep Muscle Stimulator Ceramic Piggy Banks FREE Entertainment Guide Women's & Men's Slippers Accelerate Weightloss Products Backpacks Online Pharmacy Vegas Travel Guide Search Engine Optimization Student Loans Hotel & Airline Reservations Hammocks Water Filter Helzberg Diamonds Online Casinos Community Bonus Casino Mortgage Calculator Security Systems Mailing Lists Click Here Advertisement .:Advertisements:.
