Mambo Rico at community center Mambo Rico, Ashland's own Cuban music group, will play a dance concert starting at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday night, February 2 at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, across from Lithia Park. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. when band member and salsa dance instructor Maya Lyn will provide dance instruction designed to appeal to both beginning and experienced salsa dancers. The live music kicks off immediately after the dance lesson. The 10 piece band features a rhythm section led by local drummer Chris Wood, with Mike Fitch, Sue Lundquist and Maya Lyn - along with pianist Veronica D'Leon and bassist John Gronberg. Saxophonists Brendan Girard and Marshall Mueller make up the horn section. Veronica D'Leon handles the lead vocals, with backup vocals added by Lula Bustamante and Mariana D'Leon. Admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Capacity is limited and a sell-out is expected. Advance tickets can be purchesed at The Music Coop in Ashland's A Street Market Place.
